Dana Point Harbor Now! supports the City of Dana Point's Local Coastal Program Amendment (LCPA) that is going to the California Coastal Commission for a vote in October 2009. The LCPA includes the following improvements to the Harbor:
- Extensive street and lighting upgrades, including energy efficient lighting
- Refined landscaping using native and drought tolerant plants and a new irrigation system, vegetated swales and pervious parking areas
- Water quality improvements including new stormwater filtering system, new sewer lines and new reclaimed water infrastructure.
- Addition of convenient public and boater restrooms
- Pedestrian connectivity with wider walkways
- Construction utilizing new environmentally sensitive practices
- Improved parking and circulation layout
- Construction of a new parking deck which contributes to an overall increase of ~400 parking spaces
- Enhanced marine related services including maximized launch ramp access and parking
- Potential marine retail building
- Construction of dry-stacked boat storage building housing up to 400 boats
- Surface boat storage (93 spaces)
- Replacement of approximately 30,000 sq. ft. and addition of 80,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurant space
