America’s Cup Trophy Event
THE AMERICA’S CUP – THE OLDEST TROPHY IN ALL SPORTS AND SCHOONER ‘AMERICA’ SAIL INTO DANA POINT HARBOR
The “Oldest Trophy in All Sports” …The America’s Cup, makes an unprecedented return visit to Dana Point Yacht Club! Our America’s Cup Event Committee has been working feverishly in association with the Golden Gate Yacht Club, and the America’s Cup Event Authority to bring a day filled with fun and excitement, not to mention history and tradition. In addition to having the most coveted sailing trophy in the world at the Club, as promised, we have a very special surprise. The schooner “America” will be here in Dana Point for this event! The yacht is a painstaking replica of the original “America,” which in 1851 stunned the world by winning the legendary sailing race around the Isle of Wight and won the trophy that now bears her name, the America’s Cup!

Tour of the schooner “America” – 11AM to 5PM
Sunset Cruise aboard “America” – 5:30PM
The presentation at 1PM will be made by the Commodore of Golden Gate Yacht Club, Norbert Bajurin. GGYC is the home club of the America’s Cup Defender, Oracle Team USA. The presentation will include the rich history of the Cup and an update on the upcoming 35th America’s Cup and its related race events. The protocol for the next America’s Cup was just released on June 3 and possibly there will be information about the boat to be used, the fully foiling catamaran, AC62.
Tours of the schooner “America” will be open from 11AM to 5PM. The yacht will be docked at the Ocean Institute’s dock and shuttle service will be running from the Club throughout the day. Tour tickets will be $5 for adults, and children under 12 Free.
There will also be a special Sunset Cocktail Cruise aboard “America”. This cruise has a very limited number of only 75 tickets available. Pre-release tickets will go on sale to DPYC members only beginning Saturday, June 14th. Tickets will be released to the public on July 1st. If you want to experience this unique opportunity, please purchase your tickets early as this cruise will be sold out by the day of the event.
In addition to all this, there will be streaming America’s Cup videos on multiple screens, AC memorabilia, DPYC, Juniors, & Foundation booths, food, fun and a surprise guest or two.
